This little guy has been through more in his mere 4 months of life, than most of us will ever have to go through. Honi was born in Israel and came to Michigan with his mommy and daddy to stay with his grandma and grandpa for the summer. Only a few weeks after arriving, Honi started presenting with some concerning behavior that his parents knew just wasn't right. They took him to the doctor and it was determined after doing an X-Ray that he needed to go to the hospital right away. From there, he ended up being diagnosed with a serious and incredibly rare heart condition called ALCAPA. According to U of M, one of the nation’s top congenital heart programs, ALCAPA is when the left coronary artery, which carries blood to the heart, is connected to the pulmonary artery instead of the aorta. It was then determined that sweet little Honi needed to have emergency open heart surgery. Instead of spending time with his grandparents, Honi spent a majority if his summer at Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. During this time, Honi's parents Phreddy and Blair were able to stay in the amazing Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor while their baby boy was being cared for by the amazing staff at U of M. Honi is finally back at his grandparents house for the last few weeks of summer and doing amazing!
Blair and Phreddy wanted to thank their parents with some beautiful family photos to document this powerful experience. It was a gorgeous summer evening, with an amazing golden sunset, I’m so excited to finally share more of this strong little heart warrior. With his beautiful scar that will forever be a memory of his scary and strong entrance into this world.
Because of the amazing support that Blair and Phreddy received at Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor, a donation was made in Honi's name.
